unbeknownst

You can find it in your life

those solemn shades of brown

you may have frosted over with your wife

when someone else may absolutely love Fall colors

And on a night as cruel as dares

a brilliant light ascends its stage

flames rekindle gasping flares

that seep through fringe in fits of rage

Only then

will you feel whole

Only when

unveiled to you your soul

oh the bliss you kiss

floating through your landslide

like a king

to where the earth divides

as you slip across

the void becomes a cloudy sky

that lacks a weather pattern and a time

This clarity no words define

And your life will not know you on this day

your jagged proclamation disregarded

until you say

This is me now

only then

can you know the pain

only when

you allow the colors back in

And your wife will scream at you

lest she forget

the day her blameless world

melted to her teeth like a cage

but you cannot bring back

the empty halls and smiling puppies

her happiness as apparent

As an empty stage

only when

we understand the hurt of others

only then

can we understand the joy

You will leave her now to pace

the empty shell you left behind

until her world is sane to her once more

a pretty new flaw to fill it

you will never understand her

nor she you

but you will understand her pain

you will know what made her happy on that day
